Things have been going pretty decent in FFXI. We havnt claimed Fafnir in about a week. which is getting pretty annoying; especially when he waits till the last window to spawn. I claimed Aspid a few days ago. it was pretty crazy and it brings my total HNM claims up to 2 (1 fafnir, 1 aspid). which i guess is pretty good for a PC player who doesnt bot. 

I messed with my comp and my network in order to prefect claim times. i found this thing called TCP optimizer that messes w/ your network settings in order to lower Ping times, and that seems to have helped a great deal. I also have alot of stuff that I have started to mess w/ through windower- IDK if drawdistance helps w/ lag too much, but DA is alot less annoying w/o that damn waterfall in it.

we had a funny jeuno last night, ended up getting showered in RNG af2. orz.

I need to finish ToAU missions really bad, i have been putting it off to long.

this MLK weekend has been full of events.

We have maintained Daily dominance of KV- so far we have gotten a 2/4 drop rate on him. This Fight is really nice; but sometimes i feel it is out of my control. For example- Today i was set for chainspell + Stun. ( i should add- i love being the Chainspell Stunner). So They pull KV over and RIGHT as i chainspell; KV stuns me. Nothing i Can do except watch people die for the next 3 seconds. and when I get back onto Stun, It just isnt quite on point (not because of anything i'm doing). Anyway; less smooth fight then I'd Like; but we still won.




Last night- at 2:30 AM; TC headed to Fafnir camp after Bombadil stayed up till the Early AM to get the TOD. So WAY late in the night Nidhogg Pops and Machera manages to claim w/ voke. So we Start Fighting it

been a great week with TC. we have done alot of stuff; however the main events for this week have been....


King Vinegarroon- either we have been keeping the TOD secret, or nobody else cares. Cause we have been pretty steady on this guys. We have gotten 2 helms this week.





its a really fun fight- but most of what it consists of is a party kiting him for about 10-20 minutes (at one point we had to kite for 45 minutes). then the rest of the LS just burning him down in about 55 seconds or so.


we have also done Bv2 a few times- Grats to Milkme on Bahamut's Mask :D

Now that im finally on Ragnarok i can tell you exactly how its going, this LJ is going to be a lot more interesting from now on.

So my first day in TheCrew went something like this...
camp Admantoise- it pops NQ, and we kill w/o any troubles, so far so good.
camp King Behemoth, its a bitch and waits until the last window- We Claim it against 175 people, and kill it w/ only 1 death.

then we go to omega- and wipe that out; probably the best day i have had in FFXI so far, all on my first day.

day 2 consisted of...
 loosing claim to Admantoise; still NQ
Hydra- killed him in about 15 minutes

on day 3- my PC got fucked up and i had to reformat it, reinstall FFXI and patch, i managed to do it all before Ouryu, which i will upload a video of soon.

whats funny- we seemed to finish the fight w/ everyone @ perfect HP X_X; how did that happen?

After about 3weeks of doing nothing but CoP every night; its finally finished. I managed to do the whole thing w/o a real static group also, which is nice. We had little clicks that we ran missions with for a while, but we really changed it up alot.

the first group consisted of Siloette, Aleandro, Trujillo, leifei,  Gibian, and I.

we went trough Sacrarium, promys and pretty much all the way until ultima/omega together until they gave up on ultima/omega.

speaking of ultima/omega- whoever wrote the FFXI-wiki artical on this fight was an idiot. there is no way in HELL that PLD is a better tank for the fight. we did 18 trys with a PLD tank and we only got to ultima twice. Thats when they stopped trying.

our ultima omega group was...Demaclese, Kazojimbo, Krilton, Kerobero, Trujillo, and I.

Then we used a NIN tank, and won in 3 tries... PLD is pathetic for this fight.

After Ultima/omega- none of the missions are very long, they are just hard.
 

Promathia is a sick fight though, i really hope they come up with an HNM/Harder version of the fight. Its got alot of potential. To bad they probably arnt gonna come up w/ it.

Anyway, i got my Tamas ring; i was temped to pick rajas because its the best melee ring in the game, but i dont use Warrior that much, and with my BLM being 58 now, im hoping ill be able to get gear that is beneficial for them both.


WOODWORKING
thats right im leveling woodworking to 100 now, i want to spit out +1 staves and rake in the money, hopefully i can do that soon. The Problem with leveling a craft, is that it really takes up ALOT of inv. space, im starting to mule alot more and its really making me wish SE would come out w/ more bag space (70 sucks, try 100 SE). anyway, ill tell you how that goes

SERVER TRANSFER- thats right, my next journal entry will be from the Ragnarok server instead of Siren, this is due to a few things. The Main issue being- lack of HNM LS on Siren. There are Options, but none that really cry out to me.

Fortuna- looks decent, but they seem to be winding down, and most of the members are more into Playing wow, and just come on for events now. Still- probabaly the Top LS, but not one id like to join.

RocDynasty- This would be the LS to join on siren, everyone seems awsome but one thing bothers me; they are too big, i figure if i joined RocDynasty, i'd mostly be sitting healing out-of party

Validus- i've never had good experiences w/ this LS; most of the members are elitests who think if you arnt in an HNM ls you arnt good enough, or just down right rude.

 

Alot of events have unfolded sense i last updated. First off; i left Temperance. I know it seems cheap to leave an HNMls so soon after they had graciously accepted me into their homes. I just didnt feel that Temperance was the right place for me; the first week or so i was in there they where awesome; after that though, things started going downhill very fast. It just didnt seem to me that people wanted to be active in the LS.

So i left, and after 2 weeks of staying up till 2am, and about 500k down the drain; i can finally Say.
"I have sea!"

first of all i just want to say; whoever wrote the fucking ffxi-wiki entry on the Ultima/Omega fight is a dick. we went trough 19 trys using PLD, because thats what we heard was better... guess what; using PLD is about the worst choice you can make for this fight. After 3 trys using a NIN tank, we won...

but anyway now i have sea; its really cool and it reminds me a lot of sky when i first got it.

I have Been accepted to TheCrew on the Ragnarok server. i Hope i can get lots of fighting in w/ them; they seem nice; and generally drama free.

This update is going to be about my Gear for WAR and how i plan to improve on my gear. i went a long time w/o playing warrior and i generally got rid of all the gear. But now i think its time to take it out of retirement.

ring- Thats actually a venerer ring; hoping to be able to afford a woodsman's soon
belt- instead of life belt i think i need a haste belt

BEST.... POST... EVER

I got  bored of RNG in about a week. I couldnt help feeling like i was just throwing money away every time i leveled. Also- the arrow prices on Siren are pretty decent, it just seems like a waste to me. I guess Mage classes ill always be my forte. Anyway, i decided to level BLM to 75, seeing as Temperance needs a few more BLMs, and mine is already 47.
Anyway its really fun, being able to solo the pets is awsome.






nice chain 5 i got solo in gustav tunnel- the EXP here is really tight, and you can get chain 4-5 pretty frequently. 
However i miss the feel of parties, i know im getting better EXP solo; but parties have always been more exciting for me. The good thing is; i dont need to have a long time to level, i go level whenever i want.

Fraps is still not working for me, yes im using a torrented version; but not, im not gonna pay for it, im going to try to use Gamecam- but it looks crapy.

Ive been leveling Ranger to level 75 now, my ranger was already 49, so its not a long run; however, i have become well aware of my lack of money, i started w/ about 300k on me, but now i am having to farm for about 30 minutes a day to keep up with arrows; i cant even think about using a gun ATM. The only thing that worrys me is that i might just be raising RNG to 75 for my own reasons; it isnt very useful for HNMs, maybe ill get lucky and they will let me use RNG on kirin and in sky.

RNG can unleash ALOT of DMG- the notions of this Class being gimp are stupid, i can parse top DD for all my partys. I do have to be careful for Colibri; because i refuse to shoot an arrow w/o food. Trujillo and I say we are gonna go camp the Selene's bow during the next full/new moon. That bow is sick.

anyway i have been thinking alot about my equipment for RNG, and i wrote it all down; and its honestly really cheap. with the exception of a fe pieces.

weapons: Franny, and Hawkers- ill get Kriegs later, i like the accuracy from hawkers alot- i hate missing
Ranged: Selene's bow- camped should be easy to solo
Body: the chances of me getting osode within the next year are slim, ill stick w/ AF
Hands: Crimson- should be easy to get, i hear they are free lot in temperance
Legs: ill go classic on these- war brias +1 will work
Feet: AF boots seem fine
rings: ill just use behemoth's rings
Earrings: i already got 1 vision earring and 1 drone earring
waist: already got a royal guards belt

i think this is all i am going to need to be effective in the end game, other then a few other things i will get in time.

after going a while not being able to take screenshots (damn farps), im back with a new update; sorry for the long wait.  there is alot to talk about, without many screen shots, along with some work on my farming fatigue research.

First thing is first; i was accepted into temperance, they are a really good LS that seems to have alot of members that play during the late-eastern time zone. They dont camp many HNMs, simply because they are Dead set on 7:00pm - 12:00 pm; however, they do have alot of dedicated members, and im hoping that by bringing some enthusiasm into the place, i can get em camping a few HNMs.

This monday we did sky, it was my first time back into sky, and i had pretty much forgotten everything.  We started off simple; with BB and Steam cleaner, we never got steam cleaner to pop, so we moved on to Kirin. RocDynasty was already fighting Kirin when we got there so we waited abit before we started. 

They made Trujillo tank Sazaku and Genbu which i thought was quite funny for his first day back on the job; i thought he did fine on it. I was the only RDM/DRK so i had the honor of being Chainspell + Stun; i think i did fine, no spells got through. 

Kirin was Crazy though; its amazing how much hate you can get just by casting Cure IV on a couple healers. He 2houred at 50% and we had to kite him w/o DD and he regened back to 60% -.-; we took kirin down in about 45 minutes i would say. 

Tuesday was suppose to be dynamis lord; but we logged on to find PerfectDodge already in xarcabard waiting to go in. I dont know the FULL situation, and of coarse i think im taking from the Temperance side of things, but we put our schedules up 2 months in advance. It should be common decency to just step aside for one night. So any way, the LS did Dynamis-Tav, which i can't do, and I Tried to do my CoP mammet fight. (e lost and they had to go)

Yesterday i logged in knowing it was a CoP day, i was gonna zerg my ass off doing CoP, i figure if the LS is doing Something i can't do, i should be trying my hardest do be able to do it. That said, CoP went amazing yesterday. Trujillo couldnt come because he wanted to play Assasin's Creed; ( i dont blame him) so we picked up 2 pickup members and my set group headed out. luckly the Ninja we picked up, had about 800k worth of lvl 40 cap gear. 

I ould also like to commend Ludis (my brother) on being an amazing Ninja, its not often i complement my brother, but he is by far the best Ninja i have seen, he got hit about 4 times in the whole fight. 

After getting the Mammet fight done, we went and tried to to get to the Diablos fight ASAP so we could do it last night, that didnt quite go over, and it got pretty late. so we just climbed to the top of attowha and logged out.

anyway- FARMING FATIGUE
i've been farming alot, and i think i have some basic data on farming fatigue; It seems, that after about 1 hour in the zone, your drop rate drops by 50%. Fatigue seems to reset after about and hour out of the zone.

cool, ill try to spice this update up w/ more picture later.

 I just got salvage access, the missions where pathetic compaired to the old CoP missions ;_;, i had a pretty decent setup, but it would have easily been trioed; the mobs only hit be for 6-7 damage each hit; so i could have super tanked them if i used BLU sub; unfortunatly, i do not have BLU sub (note: work on that).

I've been collecting data from my ochish farming sessions; its a pain in the ass to farm for 5 hours a day; but the data i collect will be worth it; give me another month or 2, and i should be able to come back with some sufficiant data.- there are a few things i need to test...

Question: How is farming fatigue mesured?

1: It is mesured by how many of that specific item drop
2: it is mesured by time spend in the zone
3: it is mesured by enemy fatigue
4: there is no farming fatigue.

so im mesuring the data i get by all of those standards.

- I just applied to an HNMls on my server; its been hard finding an HNMls that does ground kings AND doesnt require that you have SEA/tons of level 75 jobs. I was getting pretty depressed for a while because Ground kings are the reason i came back the game; and it looked like i wasnt gonna be able to fight em.

about a week has gone by and its time for me to update. i havent actually done that much this week, i had a few cool things, but it has mostly been full of me getting back on my feet again.

ive been doing a lot of farming, i think i've got down the flow of it now, i've been farming Orc Troopers in Davoi for gold Orc masks, it can get pretty tiering because the drop rate is pretty bad. The down side is that you have to farm during off ours, the camps can become pretty crowded later in the day, i try to log off at the farming sot, and i farm as soon as i get home, for about an Hour or 2.

One thing i have started to notice, is farming fatigue; i normally get about 2-3 drops, and after that, the drop rate falls off rather sharply, probably to about half the rate. this is Pretty noticeable- i hope to have solid evidence of this soon; that would be a cool update; figuring out how steep farming fatigue is; i would have to farm ALOT though.


this is the gear set i have been using for farming its just a bunch of random stuff that increases acc/attack

i can generally get about 30k an hour farming the masks, more if I'm lucky, that doesn't sound like much, but its a lot more stable then camping an NM; soon ill get Serket ToD and ill try to camp him every day; i figure i can solo him, pretty easy.

I also got a really good party with a bunch of the members of Fortuna, they where really cool, sometimes people in big LSes like that can make you feel inferior, they where nice though, and i held my own.




this was our highest chain, not bad, certainly not as high as i have seen some people go, but defiantly above average

I'm working on getting Salvage access and Sea access, I'm only on mission 2-3 of CoP ;; its gonna take a long time.

I decided to start a Livejournal for FFXI. I don't really have any Specific reason, i just felt it would be good to have in the future. I am Donsalieri, from the Siren server. I just recently started playing after a long time. I dont think i have played sense... 2005. After quiting FFXI, I started playing WoW; which has to be the most over-rated MMO of all time. Now dont get me wrong, i can see how WoW appeals to so many people, its really easy; you can get stuff done in a relitavly short amount of time, but that is the problem... None if it is hard. the stuff that is hard (reputation) is really just a massive grind; not an actual challenge. I quit after about a year of WoW, right before Burning Crusade came out.

So now im back, i have abit of work to do on my character- getting him the new gear; he has to get Sea and salvage access; im working on that now. I also need to get HQ staves; they are something i never got before; i figure i need 1-2 mill worth of HQ staves for RDM because some staves like water and fire, i dont really need HQ.
